François BOUCHER (1703-1770), Madame de Pompadour's favorite painter, is the subject of this catalogue in two volumes featuring nearly 700 paintings, some of them accompanied by engravings and preparatory drawings, as well as examples of what they inspired in the decorative arts. A detailed chronology of the life and career of the painter, a list of his sales from the 18th century, a bibliography and several indexes complete the work.
